I realized that I need to read something that is not a case book. SO I am soliciting your recommendations. I like generally anything except western, harlequin-type romance, and non-fiction science books. Other than that, I'm open.
Despite my hatred of con law, on my list of summer reading is The Brethren. I ran across some hilarious quotes from it while writing my torturous paper for the class with no point. Ooh, and I am going to read Robert Jordan's new book (Ok, i know it came out last fall, but it's new to me).
Help me expand my horizons. I would love some suggestions for fun, drivel too.

i just did a post all about fiction books. My 2 favorites of the year:
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathon Saffron Foer - was absolutely fantastic. It was very modern and visual. It is about a 9 year old boy who lost his father in the World Trade Center on 9/11. It was amazing.
Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell - Wow. that's all i have to say. It's long, and it was hard to get into at the start, but sticking with it was very rewarding.
And not a favorite of the year, but a recent "fun" book was Ya-Ya's in Bloom, by Rebecca Wells. It's the third of the Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood books, which aren't all fun, but still VERY fun. I wouldn't read this one first, though. I'd read it last. I listened to an audio version, and it had me laughing out loud in some awkward places ;)
The Time Traveler's Wife. SO GOOD. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Also so good. And neither are total drivel. You can feel smart reading them.
I second Kristine's books. I loved the Brethren, but that was pre-law school and it might feel a little too lawish for me now, as pleasure reading. I recently finished "Reading Lolita in Tehran," which I really liked. And if you want something that's purely fun, have you ever read "The Princess Bride" by William Goldman? I love that book. Even better than the movie.
I agree with Kristine's recommendations as well. (The Time Traveler's Wife is GREAT!) I just finished The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri. It is absolutely beautifully written and a wonderful story. And for something really fun I would recommend Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster. She's a Chicago blogger (www.jennsylvania.com) and she's FUNNY!!
Under the Banner of Heaven was excellent. And if you like poetry at all, I highly, highly recommend "The Brand X Anthology of Poetry," edited by William Zaranka. Incredibly funny stuff.
Though certainly far from great literature, I thought My Sister's Keeper was interesting. It's a great brain dump.
